Monday, 6th July: Barton Scouts Fun Evening

There’s to be a Family Fun Evening with 1st Bartons Scouts, Cubs and Beavers on Monday, 6th July.

The organisers say:
We would like to invite you and your families to come and join our Family Fun Evening on Monday 6th July from 5.30 – 7.00pm on the lower playing field, off Worton Road, Middle Barton. Come and enjoy a free sausage sizzle, cake, children’s tombola (cash only) and join in with some of the activities with the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. Please ensure that younger children are accompanied by an adult.

We are looking forward to seeing members of the community and sharing the enjoyment of being in all sections of Scouts. We really do need the support of everyone so that we continue to offer Scouting in our local villages and keep all our sections running – without this we have the prospect of losing our Beavers in September if there are insufficient children or adults to help. We do not want this to happen!

Save the date and come and see what Scouts is all about!

Saturday, 18th July: Tribute Music Festival

The sound of live music is set to drift across the fields once again as Middle Aston-bury returns on Saturday, 18th Julyto bring together neighbours, families, and music lovers for a day of classic hits. And organisers have just confirmed the final lineup!

This year’s event promises a nostalgic journey through some of the biggest names in pop and rock history. The complete roster features world-class tributes to QueenABBA, and Dolly Parton, ensuring the setlist is packed with songs everyone knows by heart. For those who prefer a bit of indie grit, the trio ASK will be performing anthems from the Arctic Monkeys, Stereophonics and The Killers, while the Girl Bands Unite set will bring high-energy pop favourites to the stage. And Oxford University Music student Imogen Butler will be opening the event playing the piano and singing songs by Adele and Tom Odell.

The festival kicks off at Middle Aston House when gates open at 1pm, offering plenty of time to settle in with a picnic or grab a bite from the local food vendors. Organiser Helen Wright says: “It’s a community-focused afternoon designed for all ages, where the priority is simply enjoying the sunshine (hopefully!) and some fantastic live performances in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.”
