Valentine Club (Over-60s)

The Valentine Club dates back to 1954 when a group of “seniors” decided to get together on an informal basis to have a chat and provide some of their own entertainment.

Although times have changed and our ability to enjoy recreation and sport has possibly improved there is still a need to bring like-minded people together within their own community. Did you know that the over 60 population in Oxfordshire is outgrowing any other age group in numbers and we are all living that bit longer so there is an even greater need to provide something for our age group?

The club meets on each third Tuesday of the month in the Village Hall where we are entertained by singers, dancers, speakers and the occasional film show. We always provide refreshments, homemade I must add, and there is always the opportunity to have a chat and meet new friends. We put on coach trips at least six times a year as well as the legendary Christmas Dinner. For photos, please click here.

We provide information on health care and benefits and work closely with Cherwell District Council, Oxfordshire Community Council and Age Concern.

All this for £5 per year and the cost of a raffle ticket if you feel so inclined. Talk about a recession, we’ve never had it so good! If you would like to find out more about the club come along to any of our meetings or give me a call on 01869 340512.

Life starts at 60 so come along and join your fellow baby-boomers!
