Sport and Recreation Centre

The Sport & Recreation Centre is located between the village hall and the playgroup building adjacent to the village play area on Fir Lane. The Centre is used for a variety of activities, including mother & toddlers, scouts, cubs, beavers, youth club, football, occasional adult education classes and private hire for parties for all ages; with or without bar.

The Centre was renovated with Sport England and other grants in 2004. It has a large hall, kitchen and full disabled access. In addition there are changing rooms and showers for the village football teams and a bar run as a Social Club. It is run by a voluntary committee with the clubs that are regular users represented on the committee.

The Social Club supports a variety of sporting, youth and other community services. It operates a bar and sells refreshments for football matches and at other specific events. Although the Social Club is for members, at £5 per person per year, the Hall and the bar can be rented by other organisations by arrangement. Also the Social Club can put on a bar in the Village Hall for organisations obtaining a temporary licence if they do not have one of their own. Since the Social Club opened in late 2004 it has raised £8,000 for the Recreation Trust towards the cost of the Sport and Recreation centre and Robinsons Close.

The charges for hiring the hall are:

Social functions - up to 6 hours - £50
Social function - off peak up to 4 hours - £20
Meeting of non-represented club - £10 per session
Caution money for all private bookings- £100
